“Our lives are not the result of random actions and events. Lifetimes are wisely and carefully scripted to enhance our learning and evolution. We choose our parents, who usually are souls with whom we have interacted in prior lifetimes….After our souls leave our bodies at the time of physical “death,” our learning continues on higher planes, which are really higher levels of consciousness. We review the lives we have just left, learn our lessons, and plan for our next life. Learning does not end with the death of the body. ….. We learn through relationships, and thus it is important that we understand how we have touched others. The concept of reincarnation explains and clarifies our present life relationships. Often events in the distant past are still influencing current relationships. Becoming aware of the root causes in prior lives can heal the relationship in the present. Awareness and understanding are powerful healing forces.” -Brian Weiss, Messages from the Masters
I would like to tap into this subject of past-lives again because it’s such a great platform for strengthening your spiritual connection. By acknowledging this concept, you are also acknowledging your eternal existence, bringing insight to current relationships in your life, and peace of mind when confronted with challenges. I can’t begin to tell you how acknowledging and tapping into my past-lives has improved my life so significantly. I feel more empowered, enlightened and joyful.
Brian Weiss, author and psychotherapist whose books I recommended in a prior post, wrote this above passage in his book Messages from the Masters. I will break it down for you and explore how this message above can help your life.
“Our lives are not the result of random actions and events. Lifetimes are wisely and carefully scripted to enhance our learning and evolution. .“
Learning is infinite! How can we possibly learn everything we are supposed to learn in one lifetime? It’s just not possible. Before we are born into this lifetime, we carefully orchestrate what life situations and challenges we will be confronted with. All of our positive and negative experiences we have in our lives are of equal significance. Yes, certain events may be planned in our lives, but it’s our own free on how we choose to experience it. Once we have mastered a particular learning lesson, we move on and explore others. Or, we may choose to have experiences to help the evolution of others!
It’s important to understand that if you ever feel that “the universe is working against you,” by practicing simple mind shifts, you can suddenly have an entirely different and more positive experience to the situation. The universe is working exactly how it’s supposed to. Acknowledge your situation, reflect on your situation, and ask yourself, “What am I learning? How am I growing? Are my actions and response contributing to the greater good?” Remind yourself that this is happening for a reason and you WILL come out a stronger and more adaptable person at the end of it. This state of mind allows for a more purposeful and happy life.
If you reflect on your own life experiences, do you feel there is a particular theme to the challenges you have been faced with? Do they seem to repeat themselves?
“We choose our parents, who usually are souls with whom we have interacted in prior lifetimes. We learn through relationships, and thus it is important that we understand how we have touched others. The concept of reincarnation explains and clarifies our present life relationships.”
You know that feeling when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve known them forever? You have! This also explains why you may have immediate conflict with someone you’ve just met. We pick who we want to be our family, our friends, and our foes. We choose these relationships so we can help each other and ourselves grow in this journey to enlightenment. This is not my first life with my immediate family and we have chosen a similar family structure throughout different lifetimes. However, roles are fluid and a parent in this life can be your best friend in the next, for example.
Relationships are so dynamic and they come in many forms. All relationships contribute to our growth, no matter if they are loving in nature or frustrating, turbulent, and emotional. Relationships are not meant to be easy, that’s not why we are here. When we place these relationships in our lives, we continue to fulfill learning experiences with those people and drive ourselves to a state of pure love (even though we may not always feel that or realize that’s what we are doing!)
Remind yourself that every person that walks this earth is here for learning and enlightenment just as yourself. So when you feel that sense of dislike/anger/resentment, fill that space with love and light instead and steadily improve your relationship with that person and yourself. I know it’s really hard, but you will find that you have less conflict over time and again….a more fulfilling, loving and purposeful life.
“Often events in the distant past are still influencing current relationships. Becoming aware of the root causes in prior lives can heal the relationship in the present. Awareness and understanding are powerful healing forces”
When we face conflict and emotional turbulence in a relationship (love, friendship, colleagues), the conflict on the surface is typically rooted in a larger spiritual truth. We come back to each other to fulfill karmic debts created in prior lives. The universe has a perfect working order. Digging deep into your subconscious and looking past the superficial to see the situation for what it really is will help resolve the conflict and improve the relationship (vs. repeating the same behaviors and conflict).
By tapping into my own past-lives (I will explain later how to do this because there are several ways to access this type of information), it has helped me resolve certain conflict I’ve had in my own relationships, or just provided insight as to why a relationship I have is the way that it is. However, it’s not necessary to know details of a past life. Simply by acknowledging that a deeper spiritual truth is at large and approaching the situation as an opportunity for growth and enlightenment will do extraordinary things for your own sense of well-being and spiritual awakening.
